Thank you for your interest in our IFRS Readiness program. The following information outlines our material. The material makes extensive use of wmv files (windows media video files). This material is packaged on DVDs and includes lectures summarizing the key differences between current Canadian GAAP and International standards and walk-throughs where the standards are applied to accounting problems. The intent of the course is to raise awareness of the issues around International Financial Reporting Standards and not to provide professional advice.
Brief History
4Point Learning Systems Inc. was formed in June 2004 to fill the void left by the discontinuation of Grant MacEwan College's Accounting Boot Camp. Its managing director, Gary Biggs, was involved with Accounting Boot Camp from its inception to its demise - the victim of budget cuts. Gary has extensive experience in preparing students to write the CMA Entrance Examination. In addition to his involvement with Accounting Boot Camp, he has also delivered CMA Entrance Examination preparation courses through the Society of Management Accountants of Canada in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.
In addition to being a frequent lecturer at Edmonton post secondary institutes, Gary has presented Financial Accounting updates to both accounting professionals and entrepreneurs. He is a member of the Certified Management Accountants of Alberta (1986); the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta (1990); and graduated with a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Alberta (1997).
